You want ‘Pro’ features in a more regular size The one and only reason to buy the smaller iPhone 14 Model Pro over the Pro Max is size preference .

The long-awaited iPhone 14 Model series has been unveiled, and with it come certain upgrades and downgrades that will both please as well as frustrate consumers. After only two years on the market, the much-beloved small iPhone model known as the “mini” has been discontinued. In its place, Apple has revived the Plus, which was first introduced with the iPhone 8 series in 2017. On the other hand, the Pro models have done away with the unsightly boat-shaped notch in favor of a massive pill-shaped cutout at the top, and they’ve also brought some cool new features with them.

Although the iPhone 14 doesn’t have a SIM card slot, satellite connectivity is now available as a vital backup plan for users in emergency situations in the United States. Concerned consumers have a lot to sort through when deciding between the four iPhone 14 variants. Considering getting the newest iPhone model? If so, there are certain basic differences between each iPhone 14 model, how much they cost, and what they bring to the table that you should know.

iPhone 14 Pro Max

Apple’s newest and greatest smartphone lineup includes the iPhone 14, 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max. The iPhone 14 and 14 Pro have 6.1-inch displays, while the larger iPhone 14 Plus and iPhone 14 Pro have 6.7-inch displays. Naturally, the resolution varies, and the 120Hz refresh rate bonus is exclusive to the iPhone 14 Pro models.

Unlike the iPhone 14 Pro (2556 x 1179 pixels, 460ppi) and iPhone Pro Max (2796 x 1290 pixels, 460ppi), the iPhone 14 (2532 x 1170 pixels, 460ppi) and iPhone 14 Plus (2778 x 1284 pixels, 458ppi) are limited to a maximum brightness output of 1,600 nits. There are a few structural and aesthetic variations, notably in how the notch is implemented.

The aluminum-framed, glass-backed regular iPhone 14 is available in Black, Blue, Purple, Red, and Product Red. The iPhone 14 Pro’s side rails are composed of stainless steel, and the device has a frosted glass back panel. Space Black, Silver, Gold, and Deep Purple are all available hues for this one. Each of the four variants features an IP68-certified body and the same three memory capacities (128GB, 256GB, and 512GB). But the Pro versions have storage capacities of up to 1 terabyte.

This year’s iPhone refresh is the first to have two distinct processor families. The iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Plus are powered by the same A15 Bionic chip as in the iPhone 13 lineup from last year. Only the iPhone 14 Pro variants include the latest and greatest A16 Bionic processor. There is a fundamental distinction between the two CPUs despite their shared six CPU cores and five GPU cores. TSMC’s 5nm process is the basis for the A15, whereas the A16 Bionic is built on the groundwork of the newer, more efficient 4nm production process.

Differences also exist in the reported battery lifetimes. Despite having the physically same form factor, Apple claims that the iPhone 14 Pro may last up to 23 hours when used only for offline video playing. Comparatively, the 6.7-inch iPhones have battery life ratings of 26 hours for the iPhone 14 Plus and 29 hours for the iPhone 14 Models for playing local videos non stop. The charging technology hasn’t changed, which is a great relief to the users.

The maximum cable charging power available on any of the four iPhone 14 Models is only 20 watts, which is ludicrous compared to the 100 watts offered by the latest Android flagships. According to Apple, each iPhone 14 model can be charged halfway in 30 minutes through the included Lightning cable. There’s also MagSafe support, which, at its peak, can supply 15W to the battery.

The primary distinction between the iPhone 14 Pro and the regular iPhone 14 is the superior camera hardware and the new notch design. Both the standard and Plus versions of the iPhone 14 retain the dual-lens camera setup of the previous generation. The primary sensor on the Pro versions with a triple-lens array on the rear has been upgraded from 12 megapixels on the iPhone 13 Pro to 48 megapixels.

The iPhone 14 Pro’s ultra-wide 12-megapixel camera has a larger aperture (f/2.2 vs. f/2.4), allowing it to capture more light and produce photos and videos with better brightness and detail. The iPhone 14 Pro is the sole choice for individuals interested in long-range zoom photography, thanks to its 12-megapixel telephoto camera that can produce a 3x optical zoom output.

The Pro models have additional features, such as the ability to take portraits in the dark using the rear-mounted LiDAR sensor. Moreover, only the Pro versions are capable of shooting in the higher-quality ProRAW and ProRes formats, respectively. In addition, only the iPhone 14 Models come with the upgraded sensor-shift image stabilization technology. Obviously, in 2022 more than ever, the iPhone 14 Models Pro pair is where you should put your money if you want serious camera chops on your phone.

All models in the series have the same set of connectivity options and can play the same formats and resolutions in music and video, including Dolby Atmos Spatial Audio, Apple Lossless, and HDR with Dolby Vision. Interestingly, Apple only lists “GPS” support for location tracking on non-Pro models of the iPhone 14 but lists “precise dual-frequency GPS” support on their website’s iPhone 14 Pro page.

iphone 14 models price

It is a pleasant surprise to see that Apple has not increased the cost of its latest iPhone models. The base price of an iPhone 14 is $799, while the Plus version will set you back $899. The starting price of the iPhone 14 Pro is $999, while the iPhone 14 Models will drain your bank account by $1,099. That being said, here is the ultimate prognosis.

The iPhone 14 Pro is a great choice if you’re in the market for a new phone because it boasts a superior camera with fancy capabilities, a new design with an unconventionally practical pill-shaped notch at the top, a few extra hours of battery life, and a 120Hz screen refresh rate. The iPhone 14 is not much of an incremental blessing over the iPhone 13, so you should probably put off any plans to upgrade.

On its own, the iPhone 14 Models is not a bad device, but compared to its predecessor, it doesn’t provide much of an improvement. For everyone else, including those who have switched to Android, the iPhone 14’s asking price of $799 is still reasonable, given the features it brings to the table.
